Just looking for some potential recommendations to put some new life into my rather old rig.

Currently running:

Intel I5 760 @2.8ghz
8GB Ram (Unsure on the speeds right now.)
Nvidia 1gb 560TI

Was planning on building an entirely new rig however I can't at the moment quite afford the monster I was planning for and was thinking perhaps of just upgrading the current parts so that this PC will live on a little longer and be able to cope with some of the newest games.

Is 8gb of ram sufficient these days for general gaming? I was wondering what would be a good card to replace the 560TI with till I can afford to buy the rest of the PC and still have the card be viable in the next PC also.

I was looking at the 4GB version of the Nvidia GTX 960.

If required my current motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-H55-USB3 and I am using a Corsair GS600 Power Supply.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, as I'm not entirely sure in which direction to go in regards to making this PC faster without going wrong in regards to the components.

If you can wait 4 days theres a RX480 card from amd coming out, that might be worth a look. If your just after something to keep you going until you can upgrade everything together then maybe look for a second hand 7950, theyre always nice and cheap but would be more than enough for your system.

I think the 480 would be heavily CPU bottlenecked. Try looking at a 470 on the 29th, they should come in sub £150 which is the 960/380 price point and should match the 970 in performance (With much better dx12 perf and vram).

Assuming the prices wont get hurt too bad the RX 480 is probably going to be the best mid range ish card we will see for a long time wait for that.

Thanks for recommendations thus far. Was hoping to get it upgrade sometime really soon due to having a lan party of sorts to attend. (Everyone else who is going has some very powerful hardware, especially compared to my dinosaur.)

I'll take a good gander at some more cards and see what seems to be the best bang for buck in regards to a quick upgrade to bring new life to my PC so I can game a bit more reliably.

Also on a potential sidenote. Does anyone also perchance know of a really good cooler that isn't insanely expensive that would work with my current CPU. The temps it reachs whilst playing FO4, GTA V, and Total War Warhammer or even DOOM (On very low...) is about 70C.

As for overclocking, my brother has one that he OC'd to around 3.4ghz, but I wouldn't dare do it with the stock cooler it has now.
