Weird as all hell this. Just got a new 6500 xt (I know I know, it's crap etc) and it works fine at 1200p, 1440p and 4k (frame rates aside) but as soon I switch to 1080p I get either coloured static or a black screen and the game crashes. I put a friend's 970 in and everything is fine, the same if I just use the integrated graphics from the CPU.

The drivers are updated and I even sent it back to the retailer and they said there was nothing wrong with it and they sent it back.

Does anyone have ANY idea what this could be? I don't really even know where to start.

12700k, Asus 6500 xt, Gaming x Z690.

I didn't bother with any of that because the graphics card was the only variable. Is it worth trying?
Well yeah. Connect it to a different monitor using a different cable. That would make it very easy to rule out something being wrong with the card if it works fine. After that you can diagnose whether the monitor or cable is to blame (or the card, should it not work on the second display).

What monitor? HDMI? Displayport? Tried a different cable?

You pair of absolute heroes. It didn't occur to me that it could be the screen as everything worked fine with the other GPU. Thanks a lot, this was driving me insane.

It worked fine with a different monitor and cable. I've narrowed it down to not working on either of the 60 hz 4k ports on the tv I'm using (which is a problem, as the others are 30hz)

Now, anyone have any idea why this particular GPU doesn't like those particular ports at those particular resolutions?

It was the settings on my Hisense Tv. Turns out if you turned the HDMI 2.0 function to "enhanced" when you first got the telly 5 years ago and then completely forget about it, it won't let you run 1080p on a 6500 xt. I mean, obviously.

Thanks for your help guys. You can now all get back to slagging off scalpers

What did the enhanced function even do anyway?
