GPU Rendering?

I recently heard about the Nvidia cards doing a thing called CUDA and am wondering if there is the same or something similar to this for ATI cards, as i just got a 6950, and want to make the most of it, rather than spending a load on a crazy processor
Any feedback and advice would be greatly appriciated

ATI version is called "ATi Stream"

Unfortunately "ATI Stream" doesn't have as much support as "Nvidia CUDU".

Oh thanks, do you know if it can help with rendering screen recorded footage in sony vages and things like that, i have looked at the website and i cant find that much about it

Sony Vegas Version 11 introduced GPU-accelerated AVC encoding, with support for both Nvidia CUDA and ATI Stream technology.
