Hi folks.

Running GTX1080 currently. 3 x 1440 and 1 x 4k monitor for productivity. I do light gaming on one of the 1440 monitors. It's starting to glitch a bit and I want to replace it.

What are my options? Ideally under £500. 3060 12GB? 3060Ti 8GB? Which is best? I want to stay with nvidia.

Thanks in advance

At that budget and gaming at 1440p I'd suggest at least the 3060ti. Not looked how much the 3070 and 3070ti cards are now typically but the 3070 may be under £500 and the extra grunt would be worth it seeing as you'll be at 1440p. :)

Seems a 3070 is back to around £600 new, but 3060ti is serving me well at 1440p, with some older tittles at 4k +DLSS.

I don't typically play the latest titles though (latest I've played is RDR2 at 4k with DLSS) and couldn't really give a monkeys about ray tracing if it's going to drag my fps down too far.

If you're willing to go second hand, 3080 10GB models are starting to hit around £500-550, but I'd be wary of a card with no warranty and an unknown history, especially at that value!

edit: also depends what connections your monitors need, 3 DP and 1 HDMI seems to be the norm!

A 3060 would be a rather modest upgrade, similar to buying a 1080 Ti, so I wouldn't bother with that. A 3060 Ti is more meaningful, but not ideal if you're tempted to game on the 4K monitor.

It's not really about the "upgrade". Just a replacement really. Happy with equivalent.

Also want to keep power usage down. Although TDP is higher, if it's being underused will they all use "similar" power?

Between the 3070 Ti and 3060Ti, the 3070 makes better sense, the 70 Ti guzzles a lot more power than either prior cards and the 3070 is barely below it in performance especially overclocked.

Not being a real big gamer, but having the PC on for... 12-14 hours a day, power usage is a concern. I'll never want to play the latest games. Ever.
I'll take a look at the 3070 too.

How do I know if I'm good with 8GB? What about 3070 Ti FE? Will it use more power than the others if I'm not pushing it?
Well, you have to look at your use case, and what sort of workloads you are running. Load up every important program you run and take a look at your system resource usage (and leave some room for growth). The 3070 Ti is a great card, but you said you wanted under £500 and are not really into gaming that much... The best bang for buck at that level would be the 3070.

the 3070 ti is a terrible card, either go 3070 or 3080
