gpu running temp ??

i have a nvida 8800gtx

does anyone know an average temp for when the card is idleing

I had the GTS version of this which my misses currently owns.

Idle: 50-60C
Load: 70-80/85C
Max: 95C

The upper 8 series always runs hot. Nothing to really worry about.

You could take the cooler off, clean it up and apply new thermal pads and TIM to the core. This may bring temps down. Plus clean out any dust as they do attract dust like flies to ****!

The cooler isn't great on the upper 8 series cards (stock cooler) and better case cooling may help too.

If you are interested in your own temperatures, install MSI afterburner and have a look. Dont be scared by big numbers though, GPUs can take some insane heat and will easily survive 80C no problems.

I use MSI-AB all the time for my OC'd HD5770. Great piece of software!

I also have recently discovered msi afterburner and its great displays in game temps and you can create useful fan speed profiles etc.
