Hi guys and girls,

Hope your Christmas and New Years was good!

I'm upgrading a fairly old PC and not 100% sure what route to go with the GPU. Staying with AM4 for now.

Old build,
Case: Mattrexx deepcool 30
mobo: asrock b450m pro4
CPU: AMD ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 2 x 8 gb 3200 cl18 ddr4
PSU: CX450M
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
Storage: Sabrent rocket 1tb nvme

New build,
Case: Montech 903 AIR MAX
mobo: Asus TUF GAMING B550-PLUS WIFI II ATX AM4
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700x3D
RAM: 2 x 16 gb 3200 cl16 ram (corsair vengeance lpx ddr4)
PSU: Corsair RM750X
GPU: UNDECIDED
COOLER: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 grey
Storage: Samsung 990 pro 1tb with Samsung 980 Pro 2tb as secondary storage

This PC is for tasking/working and gaming, mostly gaming. I play different games and it often changes. I have been playing Destiny 2, xdefiant (game finishing soon), warzone and days most recently.

I currently have a 1080p monitor and would plan on moving to 2k/1440p monitor soon at some point this year and then eventually move to 4k in the future. So for a bit of time, it will be 1080p and then the majority will be 1440p.

The budget is 300gpb max for the GPU. I first was thinking either AMd Radeon rx 6700 xt or rx 6750 xt which I can get new for around 300 and comes with 3 years warranty. However I can get a Sapphire Nitro + AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT for 320. But this is secondhand and wouldn't come with any warranty etc. I liked the sound of the RX 6800 XT as it seems a lot more powerful, can run some/most 4k games on decent settings so would future proof me fore longer, but it is a 4 year old card and would have no warranty if something went wrong.

What would you guys recommend; a new rx 6700 xt or rx 6750 xt? or a secondhand rx 6800 xt?
Or if there are other GPUs for that budget you would recommend new and used that I haven't mentioned, what would they be?

Thanks

Might be worth waiting until the new cards come out, you could get a new 6800 xt for not much more if there's any kind of price cut (which there probably will be on RDNA2).

It turns out the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6800 XT is 13 months old, comes with a 2-year warranty from where he purchased it, and has 11 months left of the warranty/guarantee. Supposedly only undervolted too. I'm swaying towards the RX 6800 XT.

Yes, I heard the AMD CES tonight at about 7 pm UK time (held in Las Vegas I think). From what I've heard, they will discuss RDNA 4 and FSR GPUs and potential launch/release dates. I'm at least waiting until then to listen to what they say, see what will be coming out new, and consider the release dates. Either way, it will affect the secondhand market so its good to get an idea I guess
