GPU Squeel? Coil?

Hi all.

I recently bought a Gigabyte Windforce3 7950 and noticed it started to squeal. I've read this is called coil squeal or something. It barely happens gaming, usually it happens when im idling, it start and stops every minute or so for about 10 seconds.

Very annoying.

Here are my specs:
Core i5-3570k
Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI
8GB Ram
HD7950 @ stock
XFX Core 550W

I've reseated but that changed nothing, should I RMA?
 
That's not normal. Coil whine usually only ever happens when the card is under load not in idle.

Are you sure its coming from the graphics card? It is more likely to be the power supply in this case.
 
I just got a new 7970 and I had the same problem. I plugged my old 7850 in and the whine was still there so I figured it was the PSU. I'm returning it tomorrow to get a replacement to see if it goes away. If not, I will get a refund and get an XFX 850
 
Bench it for a few days and it may go away. Had the same problem with my Gigabyte 7950.

2 days of benching and gaming fixed it.
