Hey all,

Ive just built a new system after some stress vista is finally working properly fingers crossed anyway. However the GPU fan is always on full what ever i try and do. ive tried 'n-tune' 'riva' and 'EXPERTool' none seem to work at all.
any help would be awsome.

the system is

AMD Althon AM2 6000+
4GB PC2-6400C5 RAM
8500GT graphics with 169.25 drivers
Running Vista 64 ultimate

Just in case anyone is having the same probem ive kind sovled the problem i found the wires that send power to the graphics card fan, disconnected them from the graphics card and run the fan from my fan controller instead. i know seems a bit savage but works fine at the moment :)

Did you try to use the RIVATUNER(as well as the nVidia Control Panel)? It has the fan speed manager built-in. I've sold many 8500GT and the fan speed can be adjusted definitely. Sometimes, it is caused by incompleted installed driver. You could also try to re-install the GPU driver.

Yeh i tried rivatuner it would tell me the speed the fan was going at but refused to change it or should i say claimed it was going to and never did. i tryed a few previous versions of the nvidia drivers. think ital learn me for buying a cheap graphics card:) i did find a few people complaining about nvidia not addressing the issue in there drivers for vista 64 on various forums not sure how much truth there is to it.

On another note i tryed the graphics card in my XP pro rig (similar spec to the vista one) and it was quiet as a mouse thats before i cut the wires hehe.
