My brother is looking for a new GPU and I've come to the trusty place of Overclockers, he has roughly £100 to spend and mainly plays Rift, he would like to play it in max settings if possible but high settings are okay.

He could possibly spend a little more if necessary but would ideally like to stick to £100.

Much appreciated as usual

At best guess he wont be able to max it even if he goes above £100. AFAIK most MMO's are quite CPU dependent or the ones I have played have been anywhoo. My choice would be to try and pick up a second hand GTX580 for £120ish. Quite a bit horsepower for what you will need it for.

Would you say it would be a better upgrade if he upgraded his mobo and cpu first?

Short term he will see a boost by getting a better GPU but to get the most from it yes ,he will also need a better CPU/mobo and ram. Sorry.

What would you recommend for mobo and CPU?

Edit: Going to make a new thread in the right section for mobo / cpu

Personally I'd recommend going with the original plan, getting a new GPU - though you haven't said what he's using now.

If he then finds it isn't enough, time to think about CPU and mboard.
