Bit of a noob question(from a 62 year old) building a watercool loop on my Haf for two 5770's one HIS and the other MSI using block only koolance coolers do I need to protect the area around the GPU processor. They are like tiny diodes very close to the main chip. Concern ? electrical contact is very close. Tightened down the block evenly on the screw threads - looks level is that enough by itself or should I protect them with pads. Many thanks for any replies:) What I am refering to is not VRM's nor the outer chips I used enzotechs on them.

If the block didn't come with anything for those parts and the block was designed for that card, then you have nothing to worry about :)

These are non referance cards. But the blocks are for GPU only does that make a difference. The block is made to fit those holes and non referance.
Not specific to any non reference
