GPU tripping out

Hey guys

My GPU has been acting all picky for the last while, and I've run out of ideas. As far as I can tell its not contacting the PCI-e slot on the mobo properly, and thats causing games to crash, or flickering lines to appear across the screen, reboots, and general annoyance. It seems to be sagging and pulling itself out the slot just enough to cause problems.

I've tried metal and rubber washers on the screws to try hold it in tighter, a gpu brace thing I had from an old case that I bodged in place, and inserting it really really carefully. Each of these seemed to help for a while, but then it would be back to its old problems once again. I've tried the card in the middle slot for a while and it seemed fine, which led me to think the GPU could have stressed the top slot a bit..

Would a backplate help the card not flex as much and therefore stay in place better? Or could it the top PCI-e slot be acting up?

Any better ideas? Or is it worth RMA'ing the motherboard and going from there?

Man I'm out of it, I've been half asleep all day.

i5 4670k

Other bits.
All housed in a Phanteks Enthoo Pro.

Bump, anyone have any ideas?
Edit:no, I don't have my monitor taped to the ceiling, tinypic just seems confused.

I would enable the cpu gfx if you have disabled them if not don't worry and just remove the GFX card and plug in to the onboard hdmi/dvi and see if it comes up on that ok just to see if its the card for sure if you havn't already

It only happens when plugged into the GPU, I've tried another slot on the mobo for a little while and it seemed fine, I may try that again for longer this time.

The display is the right way up, its just when I uploaded the picture to tinypic it seems to have flipped it.

Bad timing with the 970's having just come out if that is the case :P

I'm trying it in the middle slot and so far so good, I think KFA2 do a 2 year warranty anyway.
