Hey all,

I cba to do research into the present GPU's around todays but would like to upgrade to something quicker if possible. Tbh I'm wasting my time doing this as I feel a quicker CPU would help my current situation, could be wrong though.

Ok, he's meh rig!

Abit AW9D-MAX | Conroe E6600 @ 3.7Ghz | 4GB GeIL DDR2 PC6400C4 | Auzentech X-Meridian7.1 | PoV G92 8800GTS | 2x WD RaptorX 150GB SATA | 4x Samsung F1 1TB

Nom and all that. Now over Christmas I discovered Fallout 3 and as a result cannot stop playing it. Right now I'm running on a custom High setting as it were. I would like to ramp everything to the max but then if I was to do that right now I get frame rate drops and stuttering.

Right now the 8800GTX is powerful enough for most games @ 1680x1050 btw. What else could I upgrade to from here GPU wise? I was pondering a 4870 since I'd prefer an ATI card..or should I just wait and upgrade the CPU later in the year? Stuck in a 50/50 situation here.

I am going to move to an i7 CPU sometime later this year but haven't the time to rebuild my rig just yet, as I rebuilt/cleaned the bugger over Christmas.

280GTX looks great, but how much of a big step is that from an 8800GTX? I've all but given up on nvidia's daft naming scheme. Cheers guys.
