currently have a gtx1660 and looking to upgrade , im happy with 60fps at 1440p but I just bought a LG 27gp850 so mostly im upgrading from 1080p to 1440p gaming, ( cpu is AMD Ryzen 5 5600X )

I was looking at both rtx3060ti and rtx3070, dont want to spend more than ~£550 really. Im prepared to pay bit extra for better cooling and quieter fans.

will not buy AMD card too many issues.

Thanks

There's not a huge gap between them, but paying nearly £500 for a 3060 Ti would make me barf. Would be tempted to hold on and wait for a 4060 or 4050, but knowing this market, they'll just slot them in at exactly the same price/perf. At least the 3060 Ti FE & 3070 FE are more reasonable prices @ £370 & £470.

does FE have loud fans? and how reliable is buying used gpus, I mean if its been used for crypto mining for 2 years will it be on its last legs?

I was going to get rtx3070 palit jet stream £560 this evening but wondering if its bit overpriced.,

TPU have reviews of both FE models, but I was only referring to buying one new, which you can't unfortunately because they've been out of stock for some time.

It isn't overpriced based on the current market, but it is overpriced based on the performance it offers.

At this price range I just wouldn't be buying a knackered card with no warranty, I'd pay no more than £150 for a used card, your appetite for risk might be different.

Yeah, there is a high street retailer that offer 2 year Warranty on the products, you just don’t know though the life they have had before hand.

6700xt is superb value for money in the current market but I just cant go with AMD gpus, so many problems, overheating, drivers, build quality.
All the people I know with RX6600 and RX6700 series cards appear fine.

RDNA2 power efficiency is decent. Build quality is dependent on the OEM and drivers seem mostly fine at least from what my mates are telling me.

One of my mates has bought two different RTX3060TI cards, an RX5600XT,two RX5700XT and an RX6600XT since 2019 for use in their various builds. Only the single RX5700XT reference model with its blower cooler was a bit of a fail, as it ran hot so they had to mess around with it. The RX6600XT seemed to have one issue at launch which might have been Windows 11.

I have an aftermarket RX5600XT and an RTX3060TI FE.

The RTX3060TI FE or an RTX3060TI under £400 would be the only Nvidia cards you should be considering. The RTX3060 tends to be still over £300. Otherwise wait for the full RTX4000 and RX7000 launches in the next few months,as there also might be some reshuffling of the ranges by then, especially the RTX4060.

Ive been intensely researching for past 48hours and still no closer to actually choosing something, I was mulling the Asrock 6700xt for £420 until I read some reviews of high temps and loud fans. Im not prepared to take the gamble on a used gpu. And all the nvidia stuff is overpriced.

a lot of the cheaper 3060ti has sold out recently aswell.

Unless its a GPU from CEX(who have a two year warranty),I would probably avoid used dGPUs currently as the prices are still too high ATM.

The RX6700 non-XT were closer to £300 a while back, which were decent for the price. There are still drops of Ampere cards AFAIK,so it might be worth seeing if you can still secure an RTX3060TI FE. So far I have been happy with mine. But OTH,both AMD and Nvidia have yet to release their mainstream new generation cards, yet so by summer things might have settled by then.

But if you can't wait, have a look on HUKD as there are some deals on there ATM.

Bear in mind if you buy from (ahem) certain auction sites, the manufacturers warranty may not be valid
Depends if you're prepared to take the chance that you'll have a £600 paperweight within a few months

PS even if they have a receipt from the original retailer, many warranties are not transferrable. Don't believe anything the seller tells you, check it yourself.

Definitely the best value at that performance level currently is the 6700xt - on ocuk for £389. Marginally worse than a 3060ti for £60 less (ocuk) prices. A bit better than the 3060ti is the 6750xt for £430ish. Obv different benchmarks say diff things then you get into other stuff like rt but at that level and price range that's the best around really.

6700XT, that 12GB VRAM will last you loger if you're someone who holds onto your card for a while. I wouldn't reccomend spending hundreds on a 8GB card these days.

Ive settled on the XFX rx6750 XT Qick 319 for £450, it seems to have good reviews.

Theres some games I want to play now and I want to enjoy my new 1440p monitor, not sit around for weeks and months for the best possible deal just to save £50, also dont want to gamble £400 on a used card

This is quite a big card though at 32cm long hopefully fits in my case ( corsair 4000d airflow tempered glass ) , and will it need the gpu sag support ?
