Hi all my girlfriend has finally decided she wants to play games again and her pc is in need of a few upgrades. She currently has an AMD 580 paired with an AMD 5600x. She is using a 1440p 165 hz g sync monitor.

Her case is pretty bad so I’m looking at getting her a mid tower case. I have a Phanteks p600s which I love but is there anything cheaper/better to look at?

Lastly she has a Superflower 650w power supply which is now 7 years old so I’d probably upgrade to a 750 or 850w one for a bit of future proofing.

I know that nearly anything I replace the 580 with will be a big upgrade, what can I get for £300-£400 which is best? I don’t mind looking at amd or nvidia.

Thanks all :)

The monitor is an Acer Predator xb271hu which only supports g sync I think. I don’t think she’s the type of person to notice if g sync or free sync is even on though tbh. It’s my old monitor I’ve handed down to her :)

Ok I’ll look at those amd options and case options. The 7700xt might be perfect looking at a comparison websites. I’ll not bother with a power supply then. 650w will still cut it for a 7700xt and 5600x then?

Thanks for your reply.

I’m going to order the Phanteks xt ultra case and the corsair rmx 750w power supply you suggested to power a 7800xt

The graphics card says it recommends a 750w psu but I should be ok right?

Thanks :)

I’m an idiot. I think I selected free shipping instead of free next day delivery. So the case won’t come tomorrow I bet. :(

My order just says order confirmed

I forgot to mention one thing. With the case for the rbg there is a 3 pin cable to plug into the motherboard. But on the motherboard the rbg bit is 4 pin.

The cable won’t plug into the motherboard so am I needing to get an adaptor of some sort?

The case is the Phanteks xt pro ultra. The motherboard is an Asus b350f strix motherboard. I think I did see a cheap adaptor that might be what I need to get it working but I’m not sure. It’s from a competitor so I can’t link it though.

It’s this which I’m thinking would work

Asus b350f strix motherboard is 12v RGB only
Phanteks xt pro ultra is 5v ARGB

The cable you linked to does not work for your requirements.

You can get a converter which allows 12v or 5v to connect to each other (deepcool & nzxt do one I believe some of the cheaper chinese brands do as well they cost £15+)

That case you have already has its own ARGB controller built in so all the fans can use argb (supports 7 devices) it just cant be controlled via mboard.
Oh thanks for that link. Are you also saying that the cable I’m trying to plug into the motherboard could plug into the case argb controller? That’s amazing if so
