1920x1200 screen, but I might use lower resolution for more intensive games.

I'm looking at a 8800GT overclocked with a S1. A 8800GTS has been recommended for the resolution, but at what point does the CPU hold the GPU back? ie using a 8800GTX SLI with a 1.8ghz single core Athlon is a bit pointless.
 
At higher resolution and higher details the difference between a fast and a slow CPU becomes smaller. X2 at 2.7Ghz is still a pretty decent chip and should be able to keep up.

Agreed that a GTS or GTX is more suitable for that res.
