gpu upgrade issue with rift

So oculus are taking there time to respond to my support ticket, no response from AMD, this seems like the best place to put this as it could be driver/hardware related. upon upgrading from an msi 390(390 was fine with the rift, never had any issues) to sapphire vega 56, the oculus rift display stays blank when plugged in via the vega hdmi port or via passsive dp to hdmi adapter(tried 2 of these 1 works and says the device is detected 1 does not).
oculus home detects the rift is conencted, i just no display, ive tried reinstalling the oculus home, using revo to remove. has anybody else with a sapphire vega 56 got a rift that is working ok?
thanks!
apologies if this is the wrong place for the post, seems my post is in both gpu and vr category's.

edit: i think the vr section is the correct section

Sapphire Vega 64 with Rift in the HDMI port is fine.

I know you're probably using the same HDMI cable as you were previously, but I'd try as many as you can get your hands on. Rift operates well outside the norms of HDMI, and I've had loads of weird issues with different cables and GPUs previously.

Thanks for the response, been meaning to test it on the other machine, going to actually give it a go and see how I get on. Seems there lots of reports of issues with the rift cable.

ok tested on the other machine, seems the cable is potentially the culprit as i had the same result there but reseating the cable got it working eventually. although it was on and off for a while. tested again on the vega card same tests etc and no display at all no matter what so i dont know if its just the cable, combination of the cable and the card or what.

Make sure the cable is seated correctly inside the headset too.
Turns out the pins in the hdmi cable were bent, literally after 3 roughly disconnects and reconnects. they are replacing through warranty but according to there forums it's a common problem due to cheap hdmi cable components. In all my years using hdmi, I can safely say I've never had 1 bent pin until now....

Hmm well I've been on those forums for a while now, not heard of this HDMI cable being a particular problem. That said, you definitely don't want to unplug and plug it every day, that will cause too much wear and tear (HDMI connectors aren't designed for that).

Here's a few examples. I didn't unplug it all until the gpu upgrade as I have no need.
