Hello,

I have a 4770k @ 4.2Ghz , 1440p 144hz monitor and a GTX 1070.

Some of the games I play such as Tombraider and Deus Ex mankind divided run between 60-90 FPS on ultra @ 1440p and as I have a 144hz monitor I'm 40-60fps off the super smooth 144hz gaming. I use Gysync and really appreciate the developers of games implementing FPS limiters so I can always benefit from this technology (fps always stay under 144fps therefore gysnc is always active)

I'm considering selling my 1070 on the used market ~£250-275 and buying a better GPU.

Budget ~£500 - £800 but there's a few things I need to consider;

  • Will my CPU be a bottleneck for the 1080 Ti or Vega ? (Theory)
  • How much faster is a 1080 than a 1070?
  • How much faster is the 1080 Ti than my 1070 - will I achieve 144fps I all games until software demands more.
  • Silent gaming is very important to me i.e. I barely hear my gtx 1070 fan's on the gigabyte G1.
  • This will be my last GPU upgrade until I can buy a 4k/144hz monitor and a GPU to power.

I welcome your thoughts on the subject and feel free to ask me anything I haven't covered.

Get the 1080ti and be done, highly doubt your cpu will be the bottleneck, I have the same one and still ordering the 1080ti when it's available.
