Evening gents, hope you can help me with a little dilemma.
Recently my BFG 8800GTS 512 OC died. I was looking forward to cashing in on my 10 year warranty, but of course BFG had to go norks north and I'm stuck with looking at buying another card.
The 8800GTS would play any game I owned at 1080p to a level I was satisfied with. To give you an idea, the last three games I purchased for PC were Sniper Ghost Warrior, MW2, and Portal 2 (I play most games on my Xbox 360, you see). The two future games I would like to play on my PC are MW3 and Skyrim. I know that my dual core CPU (see sig) is going to be somewhat of a bottle neck, but I haven't the cash to replace both GPU and CPU. So as far as I can see, I have two options:
One, is to buy a GTX 560 1GB for about £135 from this very site. This would allow me to make future updates real easy as I'd just add another 560. It's a little more cash that I'd like to spend, but looking at the alternative cards I'd rather pay the extra for the extra performance.
Two, is to relieve my friend of his used GTS 250 512MB for £30. This is undoubtedly a bargain, and I am looking for a solution on a budget as I would then get a better card later in the year. However, is it actually a solution at all considering the games I'm wanting to play on it?
So, OCUKers, what would you do?
