Hi all as the title says I want to upgrade my gpu, what would be a worthwhile upgrade to go with my current system - specs in sig .not going to be playing latest games but when I play Factorio it struggles a bit when there's a lot going on.
Don't want to spend much over £100

Cheers

You should be able to pick up a 2 or 4GB 670GTX second hand for that sort of money. That should be fine for your needs. Saving up some more would be best though.

Are you sure your CPU is not holding you back?

Second hand will give you the best bang for buck, but if you wish to buy a brand new card then something like an R7 370 (which start at around £110) would deliver a very nice boost in performance. If that's too much, then look at the R7 360's - which are roughly the same speed as a 260X.

Whatever you decide to do, overlock your i5. :)

Might go for a 670 GTX, 2nd hand.
As for overclocking my i5 I've not managed to get it much over 3ghz with it stable (all I know about overclocking is clock * multiplier gives you your speed)

That will be a great upgrade.

Check out the overclocking and cooling subforum for further help with getting a higher clock speed. :)

Same seller selling new GTX 760 at £95. Great deal or slightly suspicious?

Personally I wouldn't think so, it's a top rated seller, if I was on a tight budget like OP I would definitely stretch to the 770 which would be a fantastic upgrade over his 5770

I went for it, put a bid on a second hand one but got outbid a couple of times so decided to spend a bit more & get a new one. Just need to overclock my CPU now.

Thanks for your help

I wouldn't bother getting Kepler at that price, especially since it will be on third tier driver status once Pascal is released this year.

The GTX950 2GB can be had for around £120 and the R7 260 2GB can be had for around £80 and the R7 260X 1GB which is faster than the R7 360 can be had for a similar price.

what card did you end up getting the 770? still a great mid range card and will do you very well! what i5 do you have?

Yep got the 770, got it for £126.99 & I've got a Lynfield 750 i5 (now running at 3.2 ghz)
. The used one I put a bid on sold for £122 so I feel like I've got a good deal.

brilliant! what model did you get? those lynfields should be good for at least 3.8 I had my 750 at 4.2ghz was a cracking performer at those speeds!

hell yea, OP should be getting 3.8 all day. couldn't get mine prime stable at 4.2 though I didn't play too much with the volts!

Got mine to 10 hours prime 95 stable and crysis 3 at 720p using my old 780 Ti just to stress the cpu as much as I could and played that for 2 hours, that was 100% stable for me :p

All I've done is increased the bclk & got it to 3.4 but got a cpu alarm, don't know what the temp was but must have been over 70c so I dropped it back to 3.2 . I don't know anything about volts or timings, that's my next step I think .

Done a 3DMARK11 test with old card & new card :

:)

I've not tried it out with any games yet but it looks promising.
