gpu upgrade

That 590 should be ok for a while I think.

I would have a 780 as it leaves option to add another later down the line if needed and has quite a few pluses over the 590 imo.

hi guys is it worth upgradeing from a 590 to a 780 or 290x or wait for the new 20nm gpus

What games are you playing and on what resolution?

If you're gaming in 1080p and are tight on budget, then wait for the next gen.

But if you are rich and have money to throw then... get a 780Ti :D

If you intend to go on water then go for 290x

playing in 1080p as i have 2 alienware 3d monitors might just sell them and get 1 of the 4k displays

crysis
elder scrolls online
doom3
titanfall
Battlefield 4

still getting good results from the 590

think ill just wait for the the next the lot of gpus

been looking that card up its a beast

Came highly recommended to me by some of the top overclockers here, for performance value for money, for build quality, for the sheer overclocking potential and for how well it would do me over the next few years.

It has pritty pritty lights too, which usually sways my vote.
I've only played a few games briefly with it in the few hours since installing, but the difference compared to my 6950 is just stunning - Every setting maxed out, yet the graphics are THAT much better even in 1080p and it's so smooth!!!

It was one hell of a treat to myself, but I've not grinned like this since I first rode my bike at [REDACTED]mph!!

u should do a review for the card
I know ****-all about such things, by comparison, really... I doubt many here would benefit from *my* thoughts on the matter.

Basically - If I can't see the difference without using benchmarking software, it ain't that big a difference!!

I'll possibly knock something up for my fellow utter-Noobs, perhaps, wherein all my points of reference have nothing to do with technical stuff and are more about real-world gaming. Main audience target would likely be the parent buying something for the kid, or a friend of mine who feels opening up the case is still a step too technical for him (he's a former Mac user that I rescued, heh heh!!).

lol macs

If you're just looking for a cheap performance boost, you might consider adding a second 590 for quad SLI. I'm not sure if you can add a 580 for tri-SLI.

cant do quad on my gigabyte z87 oc board no plx chip was going to upgrade my 590 when the 690 came out but then the 780 and 780ti titan came out lol now the titan black is out
think i should wait for the new 20nm gpus

My 6950 handled any game I tried to play, on High and sometimes Very High settings. It was perfectly adequate and would likely have done me for a couple of years yet.
However, the 780 Lightning kicks the butt of every game in my library, all on Ultra, without even raising an eyebrow.

Unless you really really want the absolutely latest thing, just so you can say you have the absolutely latest thing, what is currently out will do you fine.
Otherwise, you will NEVER upgrade, for want of whatever is possibly coming out in a few years...
