I agree, I'd wait for the 9070/9070 XT and 5070/5070 Ti, unless there's some great clearance deal on something like a 7900 XT or 4070 Ti.Wait until the new cards are out next month is the best sdvice right now.
Enable FSR for blur-o-vision plus 5 fps, phwoar!Cheers, I'll stick it out for now, 20 fps here i come![]()
Is it crap, mediocre or good?would i need a new PSU?
The power requirements for the 7900xt and the 9070xt appear similar, so, the advice would be dependant on what PSU you currently have, regardless of what GPU you decide to getJust had a thought, If i did pick up a 7900 XT would i need a new PSU?
they recommend min 750w psu..gaming it'll draw 320w, with power spikes 412w..5800x3d 80w to 180w depending what you're doing...so general gaming I'd say 320 plus 80(most games still heavily single thread so will take the 80w side of things), 400...other bits lets say 450w-500w...you should get away with it..as a psu gets older though it does wear a bit, so you might loose a bit of your 650w output too..and of course you may be running psu at 80% of it's max output, which will put a bit more stress on it than running it as 50%...and as @Tetras say..depends on quality too...(not sure I'd be wanting to stick a power hungry £650 gpu on a 8yrs old crappy 650w psu to save £100 for expample if it was a bronze psu with a 3yrs warranty...if it's a fairly new decent psu with 10yrs warranty(an rm650x for example is rated up to 800w so has a bit of headroom), I'd be far happier)Just had a thought, If i did pick up a 7900 XT would i need a new PSU?
9070xt there's a photo on the thread showing min requirement 900w for the 9070XT red devil i think it wasThe power requirements for the 7900xt and the 9070xt appear similar, so, the advice would be dependant on what PSU you currently have, regardless of what GPU you decide to get
yeah that's for the red devil though (has 3x 8-pin)9070xt there's a photo on the thread showing min requirement 900w for the 9070XT red devil i think it was
well the good news is that 3x8 pin connectors use thicker wires than the crappy 2x6 pin proprietry nvidia connection, so wont be any melting cables to worry about ...yeah that's for the red devil though (has 3x 8-pin)
amd did confirm that 750w is the recommended
yeah lol, 12-2x6 is too small, power density too high and asking for troublewell the good news is that 3x8 pin connectors use thicker wires than the crappy 2x6 pin proprietry nvidia connection, so wont be any melting cables to worry about ...
Got a 4K monitor from work but its killing my 5700XT so i need an upgrade.
5800X3D
32GB Mem
650W PSU
What's my best option here? Budget 600 max
that's a decent psu..toms hardware tested it up to 110% so 710W and worked fine. as the 5800x3d not a power hog think you'll be fine. I'd still wait for the 9070/9070xt though before going for a 7900xt (specifically the xt version if youre 4k gaming). 28th feb for reveal by amd, launch in marchIt's a Corsair RM Series RM650 650W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
