Hi all,

Tomorrow I'll be visiting overclockers to buy the below 4K monitor

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...g-widescreen-led-monitor-black-mo-044-ao.html

I'm running a 670 with an amd 8320 cpu. I will need a new graphics card for the monitor so any recommendation is helpful as I've not kept up with current ones.

Gameplay wise I want to be able to play anything and everything.

Budget wise 300ish would be nice, but I do want a card that runs it smoothly so I'm flexible

I think you may need to stretch your budget a little. A GTX1070 should do okay providing you're willing to turn some of the graphics settings down.

JUST NO! You need to stick to 1080p with that CPU and a 300ish budget. Even then you will have to drop detail in most modern games.

Hi

If your planning on playing most games on that 4k monitor you will probably have to stretch your budget. I'm not sure about your processor either.
Edit: I also noticed it has freesync so an AMD card will be of preference if you want to get the most out of it.

That would be okay at 1440p but this monitor is 4k.

I suppose it depends on how much he's willing to compromise on detail, but ideally, something even faster would be preferable.

At least at that resolution the CPU won't be quite as much of an issue than if he was gaming at 1080p. Game dependent, of course.

Surely it doesn't matter what resolution your at, the game engine is still the same whether your are at 1080 or 4k.

The CPU is important for frame variance and minimum frames. The stronger the CPU the less variance your get at any resolution.

As for the OP, if the monitor has Freesync, get a Vega 56. But you wont be playing at max IQ at 4k. Your be pushing those setting down, probably to a mix of medium/high.

What your probably better of doing is getting a 1400p monitor instead.

(Just noticed monitor doesn't have Freesync. But still at £300 your looking at 1060/1070/Vega 56)

---

And CPU is not ideal.

---

Better yet, wait for the 1070ti and then make a decision. But it's probably around £400.

---

Cant believe Vega 56 is £500!:eek: I don't see the point. You can get a 1080 cheaper.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I'll be upgrading the rest of the system before Christmas, currently I was looking at this particular monitor and a GPU to go with it.
