My gpu has whining coming from it which I think is due to the old PSU I ahve which is being replaced soon, that said, pushing the GPU up whilst it is whining effects the whine in a way that eliminates most of it, how can the GPU sag be effecting the whining noise? I will try and prop it upp with something plastic against the heat sink so it's straight.

Good sports bra will sort it out and give the support needed.
Seriously whine can be dependent on securement of whatever component(s) is vibrating/resonating at high frequency. I'd say you have gotten off lightly if propping it up helps. Maybe get an inanimate carbon rod or other non conducting composite material e.g. wood.

Carbon is a conductor of electricity, wood obviously not.

Yep, definately eliminates the faint sound when i push up on the card slightly, its not so much a whine but a faint chirping. My PSU makes electrical noises aswell in the same game, getting that replaced my eliinate any gpu noise anyway as the PSU is getting on a bit now.

The slight difference in pressure if the PCB is slightly bent may alter the vibrations enough to make a difference to audibility.
It seems taht way, I never noticed it before until recently though so it might be due to the PSU getting slightly worse, I have looked around everywhere and all I could find in the place that was the right height was a plastic tablet bottle which is obviously too big so I might order a gpu proppper from the internet.

No Simpsons fans here

Yes I barely remember that line though :D

My GPU is kinda modded that doesn't help, it was sagging from the start when I bought it but since I have added the heat sink from an accelero cooler and the black metal plate on it is big and heavy as ****. I also have a 140mm fan strapped underneath it, I think I might get some lego and piece that together underneath it to prop it up, from that you can probably gather I am not one for asthetics, I can't see it anyway lol.

Mod away! I once ziptied an Intel fan from the HSF to the back of a GPU core for lower temps;)

Haha nice! I just cut a highlighter down to size, left the lid on and took all the insides out and it's propping it up, it was sagging half an inch.
