GPU-Z core clock dipping during stress testing?

Apologies if this has been asked before, I had a search but couldn't find anything.

Is it normal for a card's core clock to fluctuate slightly during stress testing so that it doesn't show a solid line in GPU-Z? I have a 6950 modded to 6970, depending on the answer to this thread I might flash back to try to see if that makes any difference.

If your PSU can handle set power control to +20% your GPU being overclocked and unlocked is running at it's maximum default Wattage, so the power play will kick in and reduce your clocks!

Dammit I just flashed back to a 6950 and no dipping :( (edit: still some dipping, just not as much). I'm only running a single card with nothing else fancy on a Cooler Master 750w (not the best I know, came with the case) so it should be able to handle it.

Thanks that seems to have sorted the dipping, hadn't even noticed that power control setting in the drivers before! I'll leave FurMark to run for a while since I assume more power means more heat, and it was already hitting 90c without the power control setting on.

Don't use furmark with these cards, it's one of the reasons the power limiting feature was implemented. It puts an unnatural amount of load on the power circuitry.
