GPUs with deeper fans

Looking at my 480, and hearing it (now the loudest component in my machine) they are pretty thin, so probably shift barely any air for the RPM - are there any GPUs which use deeper fans? Or ideally regular 12/14cm fans, that can be user replaced?

I'll have to check whether height is ok as I'm using slot below it, but I could do a work around

Asus make some cards with Noctua fans :D

It was also semi-common in those days to remove the plastic shroud and strap a couple of chassis fans to the heatsink using cable ties. Nasty looking, but effective.

You can remove the shroud and use your own fans, but other than that, there's not much that can be done.

Otherwise water-cooling is probably your best bet, but it's mega expensive.

It's also not just about fan thickness, it's also about cooler design and heatsink area, which is much improved on new GPUs
