grabbed an i7 920

for 200. was it worth it or should i have gone for the 930?

i looked at reviews and benchmarks but they all said different things.

what do you lot think? i've got a few days if i need to do a return like.

Damn it, makes sense as I've seen them going cheap .... This can only mean that they're being phased out.

To the OP if you're going to overclock - you've bagged yourself a fine chip.

a day before i ordered it was 180..


..but yeah, going to hammer it as much as one can on air cooling.
going from core 2 quad, someone said overclocking is much different on i7 but i imagine a front side bus is a front side bus whatever way you look at it.


am sure there's a n00b guide about here somewhere.

Got my D0 from the bay for £150 and the mobo from here at £130. Most happy and after some frustrating hours have now managed clock in sig.

i clocked the Q6600 up to 3.4 which i think is the highest it goes but then i settled on 3.2, so if the i7 goes up to 4 i'll probably settle at about 3.6 just cos this house is warm. overclocking is so much better in winter. can't wait, bring on january!

Lol wishing the summer away for overclocks! I like it. Yeah I for my 920 up to 4 but keep it at a steady 3.7 as I was getting high temps mid day with my cm v8 running 100 % water cooling might sort it out
