Grainy desktop/monitor graphics on Certain driver versions

Hi all- I am getting a problem with my display becoming 'grainy' when I install certain drivers - AMD in both cases with my On-board and my 280X card. The current live drivers work fine for my 280x and give a nice clear image but when installing the latest beta driver or using my on-board graphics I get a very grainy image (almost like a 30hz interlaced output looks) - I have run a full clean of my drivers and it is only happening with the 'beta' driver and my on-board graphics.

Does anyone know of a reason this would happen- images below to show the difference:

On a more worrying note the images now appear to look the same(with the good driver installed) which would indicate that the image is in fact fine but my monitor is not displaying it properly I guess- I'm using a DVI-HDMI cable and it isn't the best monitor in the world but still can't figure out why the driver change would cause the monitor to show a grainy picture as it works perfectly fine on the current driver. I have also included pictures taken to show what I actually see - note the text is very grainy last pic as opposed to being smooth as it should be.

It's not changing whether your ClearType is on, is it? Have a look if turning on/off ClearType makes any difference (Start > type "ClearType" > Select "Adjust ClearType Text").

If that isn't the issue, check in CCC under "My Digital Flat-Panels" and see if setting Pixel Format to the other options has any impact.

Tried cleartype as well- Its not just the font that appears grainy- the whole screen looks interlaced even though it is set as outputting 1080p and registering as that on the monitor
