Gran Turismo 7

You'd be spending some serious cash for that lot; G29 is recommended as a starter kit to see if a wheel is for you.
While this is true going from a cheap wheel to a decent wheel is like night and day. My first wheel was a thrustmaster t150 and while the novelty of using a wheel was there it wasn't very good. I now use a tgt2 and while still belt driven it is 1000 times better with fell and I actually improved with it where as the t150 I was worse than using a controller, some of it was adjusting to it but I had it for two year and was still slower but with tgt2 I was a lot quicker after a few weeks.

One thing I will add it while it costs more up front if you don't like it you can get most of your money back especially with fanatec equipment as they haven't been the easiest to get in the UK.

Have to admit I have enjoyed my G29 and it's been bob on for Gran Turismo + Forza for the last year.

I paid circa £150 for the wheel and shifter on a deal and very happy with the purchase. Granted it's no Fanatec/Moza for overall quality but for the price point I would say it's cracking :)

As with everything....its whatever fits your budget

Oh without doubt that’s true, but talking about myself as an example, i bought the Playseat, G29 setup second hand and realised it wasn’t something I was interested in over the controller. So didn’t cost me much in reselling. I’d hate to spend sub £800 on gear and not enjoying it, it’s a steep learning curve going from controller to wheel too, a lot don’t have the time or patience.

Someone mentioned Super GT before, I religiously watched his vids for years and remember him comparing the pad and wheel, there was very little in it in his times. There’s another guy who has the expensive kit and went back to his old G29 and again very little in it times wise, but these guys are freaks.

Re-purchased in the sale hoping I could reset and start refresh. Apparently not as the profile save is all server based so no matter much you delete the console or cloud saves, it will simply pull the server save back down. Have to create a new console user profile; Lame.

Everyone adjusts differently, like because I was a console player before getting in to PC gaming I am better with a controller than K&M. I can use K&M but not as good, whereas someone else will be able to jump from one to another and be just as good.

A wheel isn't for everyone and the way you did it was probably the best way but if you ever get the chance to have a go on a better wheel try it because it is better than a cheap wheel because of the way the force feedback is used it feels more natural. The one way I can explain it really is using a cheap third party controller (from back in the day as I haven't used one since PS3) compared to a first party one it just doesn't feel the same.

I get point but I would rather it be server side than on console and it being accidently deleted or the console breaks and you lose the save. I know cloud save is a thing but not everyone has PS Plus or backs up saves.

End of the day no matter which way they do it someone will be annoyed by it.

G29 is great for the price, but you can really feel the gears inside it.

@Mariusz . It's well worth looking locally for2nd hand stuff because people don't like to post it. I got a g29 with gearstick and crappy stand for £90. I chucked the stand and got a playseat and I'm happy enough with it. Have been considering upgrading parts of the brake pedals and have been eyeing up more expensive, belt-driven wheels but honestly I'm happy enough with the g29 right now

I've picked up a Logitech G923, loving this. Just wish my skill level was as high as my enthusiasm was :D

I still play GT7 frequently for the daily multiplayer races. I've always found the single player element pretty boring as you always start at the back. Just feels like an overtaking challenge rather than a proper race.
