Gran Turismo HD

Watched the evo replay the other day and its very impressive. The car model is fantastic, but the lack of tyre marks really is annoying considering all the tyre squeeling that goes on. The scenery looks really impressive too. But this was all in replay mode..

Is it actually in game shots or just the usual glossy replay stuff that's get thrown around before each new version?

Well to be fair, in GTHD the replay looks the same as the actual gameplay.

The lack of tyre marks isn't really surprising. Its just a pretty version of GT4. And if this is what they can do to just tart up an older game, i can't wait till they release a full blown game.
Best looking racer i have played on a console so far.

(Thanks for 1up link btw)

Shame its only another year or so away...

Polyphony are to make an announcement at the 40th Tokyo Car Show in 2007
The shows on sometime around October/November.

60 frames in 1080p on a demo = nice
60 frames in 1080p with minimium of 12 cars and physics = INTERESTING

Certainly looks good, just hope they address the way the game has gone steadily downhill gameplay-wise.

In my quest for actual in-game shots.. ive found this..

So, what can we see here.. well.. the jagged edges dont look as bad as PGR3's, but there are still jaggies there, and what is this sort of blurred effect on the top of the car.. i hope thats not to cover over any jagged bits.

Whats really disappointing is the shadow cast on the car by itself..

So jagged edges go to GT HD and shadows go to PGR3 in that image, bearing in mind PGR3 is over a year old now..

Hmm, more pictures, and it would appear i was too hasty in my first image analysis..

Jagged edges doom just like PGR3.. especially considering these are reduced size images which always makes the images look better..

Dammit, we need games that have at least 2xAA! Not impressed by the extra year of development and no change. If PGR4 doesnt do AA in-game i will be even more disappointed.

Think Gears set the bar very high now when it comes to Console graphics, I for one look forward to seeing what Bungie cook up in the final build of Halo III :D

Hmm, having not actually seen any "real" footage or pictures, I was rather hoping it looked a little better than that.

Given the slating PGR3 got for a lack of Anti-Aliasing, what's GT HD's excuse? Given it's only ment to be an upgrade of a PS2 game, and the PS3 is infinitely more powerful?

Well, im really confused. The forum i got the shots from were all hooah'ing about GT having antialiasing.. and how great it was.. but i think they must have meant just in the replay mode, because ive seen a replay.. and it did look awesome and no jagged bits.. but PGR3 did that with its photomode.. so if they are wooping at that then its a bit misplaced.

Gran Turismo's replay mode has always excelled, presumably due to the way the console runs the replay, using less processing horsepower and allowing for graphical niceties. I did however expect GT HD to have full AA throughout, especially given the "best graphics I have ever seen" remarks flying around since it's release.

The second screen shot gord posted doesn't look, in my eyes, anything better than PGR3 could manage in-game.
