I long time ago, and I mean 6 or 7 years ago OcUK members had an unofficial Grand Prix Legends league going on.

Now I don't know how many of the people from that long ago still frequent the forums here but I figured I would ask.

You used to be able to get all sorts of graphical, audio and various other enhancements for it, mostly community addonds and such but the old site that used to have stuff are now dead.

I'm wondering if any of those players from here are still around and if they are if they by chance happen to have any of those add-ons still around that we could make arrangemets to get to me either via FTP or on DVD/CD

Cool thanks for that.

I did find the gplps site and already have that installer but the other ones especially the alternate tracks are very useful.

I keep thinking to myself,re-install/not re-install,lol.
I know its 11 years old now,but i had years of enjoyment from the game,on and off.
I remember it cost so much for a Voodoo 2 gpu that a wheel too was out of the question,
haha,now i have one i,m dithering.

i was in the first ever race at silverstone, It was over 7 years ago as i was still on 56k. (started working in sept 02 and i had broadband a while before that)

Never raced again as i was pants :(

Yup was good fun.

I remember a race at spa me and roadrunner battling it out through the whole race.

I managed to get the lead on the last lap only to lose it going into the last corner

I'm reinstalling it now cus I feel like a blast from the past and honestly I can't say I have played a racing game since GPL that was anywhere near as much fun.

I used to race in that league, well I used to crash a lot in that league :p

Lost all my GPL links now, and never got it to install properly when I've tried in the last few years :(

However, there's hope, iRacing, made by Dave Kaemmer (eg the guy who made GPL) and the feel is very very similar to GPL, just better all round :)

It's expensive (although they've just dropped the prices) as you need to pay a monthly sub which comes with a basic package of 3 cars and 7 tracks, but then you need to pay for content as well, $11.95 for cars now, and $11.95 or $14.95 for tracks.

But the best bit is the online system (it's all online based really), as a driver you get two licences (currently, there are talks of other licences coming at some undetermined time in the future), which are Road and Oval, both start at Rookie level (with the levels going D, C, B, A and Pro), in order to be promoted there is a 'Safety Rating', which is a no-fault count of how many incidents you get in a set number of corners.

For each licence level there are 1 or 2 series with different cars/tracks, the tracks change weekly over a 12 week season, with a '13th' fun week between seasons where we get a shiny new build, some new cars/tracks and some unofficial series where SR doesn't count.

Also, kinda related to this thread, starting next season (a week on tuesday, we're coming to the end of season 3 right now) there is going to be 'Hosted Racing' basically giving the ability to run private leagues :)

Sounds cool but unfortunatally my budget does not allow for me to be paying subscriptions to play games.

My gold live account is the limit as far as my wife is concerned ;)

But for those that can afford it it definatally sounds like a good option if it's done my the same guy.
