So speculation has now hit a fever pitch within the GTA community.

Kotaku is reporting pretty much what all the rumours have been saying about the 20th anniversary of GTA III on 22nd October for ages.

Ever since Ruffian Games were purchased, it was suggested that they were bought to port old titles.

However, plans have changed again, and now the remastered titles are planned to launch around late October or early November for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC, Stadia, and mobile phones. It appears the PC and mobile ports might slip to next year as Rockstar focuses on developing the console ports first.

The PC late release would not surprise me. They seem to be bailing on the E&E for PC now and let's face it, they have been pretty disinterested with PC over the last two releases, regardless of its massive popularity on Twitch.

They could all essentially run on the same engine, so it'll be interesting to see if they update any of the assets or simply re-package the games in an updated engine to support current hardware. I also wonder if they will butcher the music licensing too.

I used to make cars for the 2D & 3D titles and was a part of the GTAF community many years ago, but I've never really felt like playing them since. The nostalgia would be great for 5 mins but I feel sentimentally they belong in the past.

Yeah, we know the assets work well in GTAV version of RAGE as there have been numerous mods. However, T2 has spent the last months removing them all via DMCA. Which was another pointer to the re-release of the series.

As for the music rights. They have been continuously updating them over the years removing those that have gone out of licence.

Unless they are a free update I will not be interested. If they do GTA IV, then yes, defo would pull the trigger.

It’s funny because there were loads of things in Vice City that got dropped or just weren’t there for IV and V. No ambulance, fire truck or Taxi rides that were in GTA VC.

Suppose to be put on unreal engine so they suggest which is strange as gta5 engine is pretty good and porting to that i would have thought would be easier than unreal. I wonder if its unreal 5 and use all the cool stuff like inf detail. More likely unreal 4 tho as more mature of a engine.

I hope they update the models and textures to high poly etc. Be a right shame if used old assets as would look weird on a modern engine.

Remasters tho are defo needed as the old games have issues on modern systems tho some can be fixed with mods i dont want to rely on mods to play them, if they work good without em on these remasters then cool.

Now on sale on Steam for £27.49 or the fantastic value of £54.99 on the R* store.
Not seen any footage yet though.
That's £27.49 per game, so £82.47 for all 3.

I watched a video earlier this week on the current state of these games, whilst they have fixed some bugs, it still seems pretty bad.

Yeah I'll save my cash, was hoping they would have made good on the issues at release.

Very poor, only hope is that the game gets trashed in Steam and it forces some change.
