This is an older system
Rampage Formula - original
Q6600 - original
4Gigs Dominator ram - original
Corsair TX V2 Series. 750 Watt - 2 years old
MSI Geforce 480 - May 2010

My son was playing a game and the screen went back and the system rebooted with no bluescreen.
Windows 8.1 said it couldn't start
Did a clean install of Windows 8.1 and everything works fine till the install of the graphic card drivers upon which it immediately reboots the system without a bluescreen.
Another clean install with disabled network (so windows wouldn't install drivers) and system runs fine using software drivers for display. Display is fine apart form it being slow because of the software drivers.
Ran Intel burn test and kept an eye on the voltages going through the mother board using AIDA64 and everything seems perfectly stable - and within tolerances.
Tested with latest drivers from nvidia site and windows updates. Same issue occuring

Dont have any components lying around to swap around stuff.

One last thing was when the system crashed it stopped all network traffic on my router till I unplugged the network cable form the effected machines motherboard. When I did my tests above I tested with the network enabled and disabled on the motherboard. Same issue

Unsure if the problem is being caused by the graphics card or by the power supply when all the extra juice is required by the graphics card.

Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated
