My HIS HD7950 just died after 26 months ... just made it past the warranty :D

Not got a clue what cards are best bang per buck atm and I'm on a tight budget (£150 ish), what should i look at ?

Thank's very much for the replies :)

The b-grade option is very tempting atm, is that simply a re-badged hd7950 ?

... but if i decide for the 280x at £179 what sort of performance gain would i see compared to my old card ?

Once i start shopping i always seem to get drawn into spending more ... i see a Gigabyte Radeon R9 290X OC WindForce 4096MB in b-grade at £199.00 ... appears to be a major upgrade on my HD7950. Would my corsair cx600 be up to running one of these ?

The 280x is a 7970 and the 280 is a 7950, so I would be surprised if you would notice any difference in real life.
I would really try and get a bit extra for a 290 or consider b grade or second hand.
Unless you are happy with the performance that you had,

With the price of 290's you should really be looking at them, as you are... its a lot more powerful than the 7950 and the CX 600 will run it just fine.

A 290, if you can stretch to it, will be worthwhile. You'll get noticeably better performance and should be able to up the quality settings a notch or two.

Regarding power, I have crossfired 290s, along with a heavily overclocked FX, 3 pumps and 10 fans. Never tops 700W under heavy load, even with both GPUs being 95-100% utilised. More common usage is around 550-600W, so your PSU should be fine.
