graphic card new build

Am going to make a new pc but i stuck wuth what graphics card to get am thinking of the x1950xtx or the 8800gts 3200 oc or is there something else anyone would advise. at the moment am using a x800xt platium on a 19 tft at 1440x 900 res how much difference am i going to see when i upgrade cheers

Welcome to the forums. I assume that the 8800GTS is at the top end of your budget? If you are a big gamer then that is clearly the one to go for, significantly better than the X1900XTX and you will notice a pretty large difference in the capability of the card but how much actual difference for games playing will partly depend on the games you play and the rest of your system.

the rest of my system is going to be 2gb corsair xmstiwnx ddr2 coreduo e6400 asus p5b delux/wifi ip965 19 inch samsung syncmaster monitor aint decided on the tower case or hard drive yet

I went from same card to 8800 gts 320mb and game at 1440X900 aswell. Its a massive increase in performance and is well worth the extra over a X1950

I 100% agree, 8800 card is far better and slightly higher cost well worth it.

does anyone know how the 8800 320mb is going to preform in dx10 or is it worth waiting a couple of months
