Hi,
Install Windows 8 pro on my HP pavilion dv6 laptop last night. After the install I keep getting a blank screen, then a message telling me that my graphic card is not supported. I think it's ATI mobillity (not sure what number)

Windows 8 installed a driver for it,but it does not work.

I did a google search and could not find the right ati card.

Can anyone pls help?

AMD does not support the 4000 series in Windows 8.

Try removing anything you tried to install already then download and install 11.12 release drivers; other forums have reported them to be working on Win 8.

Yes, they do.

I'm running Catalyst 12.6 from my link in Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation on my laptop with a HD 3200.

It should work in a basic way unless it was very specialised or rare?
I have a PCI graphics card made in 1997 doing everything fine in win8, a 'rage' something. I think they were popular at the time but 15 years, still compatible and no lag is pretty impressive so I'd expect most cards to work on basic drivers.

Surely this OS is all about working with mobile computers

it seems that MS have installed their own drivers for my card via windows update. And it's almost impossible to uninstall them.

Does it have switchable ATi/Intel graphics?
Not the DV6 6051ea by any chance?
Had a similar problem and have ended up installing these drivers:

There are loads of other forum posts about HP graphics which should solve your problem if this doesn't.
