I posted this in the customer service part but thought I would post it here too for your opinions....

I had a 7990 card until recently and everything worked perfect for about 3 months....Then in the last week I started having issues where my screen would lock up... and the screen would either go black... go white... or I would have a rainbow of colours on the screen and the sound would loop. Also sometimes after it locked up and I restarted the pc it wouldn't find a signal on the monitor and I had to turn it off then turn it back on again a few times for it to detect it so once again I presumed that was because of the graphic card......So in other words it seemed like the card was failing and I sent it back for hopefully a refund.

Since last week I bought 2 x 290 sapphire tri x cards from you which have just come today... I put them in... Everything seemed fine with one card... put the second card in... everything seemed fine.. ran benchmarks ect with no issues then all of a sudden out of no where I got a black screen and the sound looped and then the fans on my card/cards went to max...so I had to restart the pc...tried benchmark again and got the same thing... So I reset the PC again...This time I had that no signal thing again on the monitor and it took me a few goes for it to eventually find the signal and get into windows.

That's the last thing I did and im now sending this message as its driving me crazy... Surely the mess of colours on the screen aka rainbow effect and the black and white screen was my 7990 failing but now since iv just had the signal loss thing again and a black screen with a sound loop opn these new cards I just bought again im really confused whats happening?

So I could really use some help here.

My PSU is the AX860 which I bought from you a few months ago... My cpu is a i5 3570k which I also got from you in a bundle... My monitor is the Benq 144hz monitor.

Thanks

I would like to add... Since my 7990 was getting the rainbow effect and it was fine for 3 months could it be that it actually was starting to die...I sent it back but haven't heard back from them yet so cant confirm it was knackered and that this issue I have now is similar but not actually the same and maybe a PSU issue and the fact an ax860 wattage PSU isn't enough to power 2 x 290 and a i5 3570k overclocked to 4.4...plus everything else I have in the case...From reading 2 x 290 would be about 600 or so watts plus my i5 3570k at 4.4 would be like maybe 200 max?

I really don't know to be honest.

I had it running in a single card earlier for about 2 hours and had no issues...Installed the second card... ran fine for about 40 minutes... then it did the lock up...
Locked up again also when I slightly overclocked the cards...

Since then iv taken the overclock off my cpu so its running at the normal 3.4 instead of 4.4 at the moment and so far no lockups so im wondering if it maybe is the PSU not having enough juice with the CPU overclock on? I was told 860 watts was enough and the AX860 is a top PSU but im wondering if its on the verge of not being enough and maybe the rise in temps when I put the side of the case back on + the cpu overclock is just slightly too much for it.

Aren't the black screens just the PC losing connection to the monitor and not actual hard lockups?
The two times it froze today I got a black screen but that was followed by a hard lockup and then the fans spinning at max.
Its not a temp issue as these cards are very cool. rarely hitting 70 in heaven benchmark.

Update... Ran the furmark 15 min stress test.. the second I clicked start... my monitor went into standby and my pc restarted.... PSU? I really thought 860 watts would be enough?
This was with my cpu at stock aswell.

Took out one card... ran the test..it did the whole 15 minute test and went to 60 degrees max on 80% fan speed.
So I guess I should text the other card by itself in furmark aswell and if it runs for the whole 15 mins then it means its definatly my PSU?
