graphic card replacement help required......

Yea, the new PSU and that card is a good suggestion.

Just wondering though...are psu's pretty standard in dimensions? As looking at that video again, the case seems quite small as there is zero gap between the current psu and mobo.

(Not trying to cause problems here :p just I hate to think of giving out advice only to find another problem later)

Edit : Too late! stuff ordered I see :D You will just have to make it fit then ;)

well, to get anywhere, it looks like a new psu was a must and I'm guessing if the new one is indeed... bigger, a new case will also be needed.

psu and grafix card arrived a short while ago and it took me just on 51 mins to swap psu and fit card.

included in the time it took me.....

1/ 10 or so mins trying to work out why the pc would not power up when pressing power button. i then remembered seeing an on/off switch in the picture of the psu in the link above. DOH DOH DOH DOH... my excuse would be the one i took out did not have one so i just never thought etc etc.

2/ after i sorted the power problem the monitor then said i had no signal from the card, looking at the installed card i noticed a socket at the back. in box was an adaptor/splitter that took 2 of my 3 white connectors and this then plugged into card and i then had video.

3/ when windows 7 then loaded it automatically set up the card and all i had to do was set it to a res i liked.

so all in all, not a bad experience and again... thanks for the help.

P.S.
with the 310 card, Batman ran at 18 fps max with everything set to on/high etc. i lowered the settings and got it upto 30fps.

with the new card its now 60 max and average of 58 with everything enabled/on..

Yea. There should be no need to use the molex to PCI-E connector cable, as the PSU has a 6+2pin PCI-E cable (you just plug the 6-pin into the 5770 and leave out the 2pin).

Most normal monitor will only do 60fps max. If you disable vsync, you'd probably see the frame rate counts go above 60fps, but it's meaningless as 100fps is still 60fps due monitor won't go higher than 60fps. One thing you should note is that if you play some demanding games and your frame rate starts to suffer and you consider not smooth enough for you, make sure you switch off vsync.

i tried the pci-e cable and it was a bit difficult to push in so just went back to the splitter. may give it another go later.
