Hi all
I am new to this forum and I have decided to join here to get help in choosing which graphics card I should invest in since my current gpu the Amd 6990 is struggling to play BF3, shogun 2 and Far Cry 3 at a decent fps. In the future I would like to play Bf4 and Rome 2 on ultra-setting if it’s possible. I am willing to spend £550 for a single gpu and then later in the year I would add a second one to it. Also is it worth upgrading known or should I wait for the new Amd card to be realised this year. I'd really appreciate if anyone could help me .Thanks

i just got a 7970 its good, never had nvidia socant talk for them but xfiring 2 brand new 7950s seems pointless at this stage of their life.
Id be more inclined to get the 7970 or nvidia equivelant and xfire when needed.

The 7970 is not much faster than a 7950, but usually quite a bit more expensive. If you can find a good deal on a 7970 then fair enough.

Thanks for replying back to me. Which one would you recommend to buy and also would it be able to play BF4 ,Rome 2 at least 60fps. I was thinking about buying two Gigabyte hd7970 is it worth buying or should I wait for the new amd cards to be released. Thanks

The 7970 performs quite a bit better on recent drivers. You're looking at a good 30% or so in many games on the 7970 GE - before any overclock. I think a lot of reviews compared overclocked 7950s to stock 7970s benchmarked on old drivers.

The obvious ones at that price are 780 and 7990. Check benchmarks for the games you want to play at the resolution you are using. Although it is probably worth waiting for the new amd ones if you can be patient.

Thanks for replying back. I think I would take my chances and wait for the new amd gpu to be released then I will decide between gtx780 or amd.
