Hi a friend of mine is lookin for a new graphic card, must be AGP.

As far as i know he wants the card for playing call of duty 2 at a decent fps. At the moment he has a 7300GT which is giving him about 70fps.

System specs are as follows:
- AMD athlon XP 2600+ @ 1.92ghz
- 1 gig of ram

He is looking to spend about £100.

Ok so he's bought the X1950 pro and is now getting an error with directx failure when he loads up call of duty 2. WoW is also not working, but cod1 is. This is the message it displays: "DirectX Error DirectX has encountered an unrecoverable error"


Any ideas what the problem may be?

Try reinstalling direct x to the latest version. Also when he changed cards
from nvidia to ati did he use driver cleaner to clean out all the old nvidia
files left over. If not download driver cleaner as its free. When installed pick
nvidia from the drop down list and then run it a few times. I would also
reinstall the ati drivers after doing this. Uninstall ati drivers run the driver cleaner again using ati as the option this time then reinstall latest x1950
drivers from ati site. Hopefully this gets rid of any errors. a lot of people
would also do a new install of windows when swaping over cards but i haven't
had any issues doing what i explained above
