The top section of this with the faint squares and the what looks like to be magic markers how would i make a background similar to that with fireworks.
Im after doing something similar with a purple colour # 844ce3

Not sure about Fireworks, but in Photoshop you could use any of these brushes: http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/applications/psbrushes/?qh=&section=&q=marker

If you aren't able to do it in FW, you could always alter the colors on the PNG they use and edit the background so it's not identical. But then again that is copying and not creating something similar.
