Graphical glitches XFX5830

Looking for suggestions on what to try next...

I have problems with The Witcher 2 and Mass Effect (1).

Currently on W7 64 with Catalyst 11.6 drivers and games patched up.
(also tried 10.6, 10.12 & 11.3 drivers)

During the cut scenes at the start of both games I see breaks in the picture, like a flash, tearing? Set all the catalyst options to use application settings. GPU seems to get to about 70C.

I've even tried windowed 1080p res and settings on low for The Witcher 2 but that always crashes the PC eventually around the first game interation choice.

Thoughts on software or hardware issue? All is well on 2D desktop and video playback. Spec is as my per my sig.

bad overclock on 5830 or gone faulty.

I should also add everything is at stock and has been since it was built. I really need to find something that will run okay to eliminate the card as the issue...

I've been doing some more testing and it doesn't seem to be driver or game related. I get the same issues with EVE, Mass Effect and The Witcher 2. I've also tried the new 11.7 drivers, still the same.

No problems in 2D or video playback just 3d. Usually ok for 30secs of so then tearing and eventually a blank screen with vertical lines. I think these XFX 5830's are a bit dodgy....

I'll try swapping the cards over, got two identical ones although the other one displays random green pixels on the desktop sometimes so probably both are defective!
