Graphics and Monitor for an 2500K build

So, I'm helping spec some kit for a gaming build for a friend with a £2000 budget for the PC and monitor (no other peripherals needed) - most of the build will probably be similar to 95thrifles high-end Intel spec, leaving around £1200 for graphics and monitor. Suggestions?

I agree with those for that price. Mind, going at £1200 for monitor and graphics, why not get THIS 27inch one for £200 more? Still leaves you within budget

Hmm... I could probably fit a 580 lightning in at that budget... but then, it's around the same price for 6950 Crossfire - which, according to this review ( http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/Radeon_HD_6950_CrossFire/ ) seems to trump the 580 at 2560x1440. I realise that that is a stock 580, but still - anyone think that is a bad idea?

Monitor looks great though.

For that budget why no go with an i7-2600k and MSI GeForce GTX 580 OC Twin FrozR II 1536MB. £500 including cpu upgrade.

Have you considered dual monitors for that as well?

I'm sure he'd love 580 SLI, but that only leaves £400 for the monitor - also, it's a pure gaming rig (well, plus general use), no video encoding/editing, so I didn't think he'd get much from a 2600k.

I was hoping someone would recommend a dual-monitor setup and GPU(s) at some point - most of the reviews for graphics cards I've seen don't have fps figures for dual monitors, so I'm not sure how much I can put on monitors to leave enough money for the graphics cards.

Three Dell UltraSharp U2311H's for eyefinity and then £600 on gpus (aka 2x ati 6970) tbh.

if you want to go multi monitors I would recommend going ATI as you can then utilize eyefinity.
