Graphics and TV Solutions?

Hi, first post so be kind please :D

I've recently started throwing a bit of cash at my PC again, having just moved house I decided to throw out my old bulky TV, and my bulky 17" CRT and replace them with a 20.1" Widescreen LCD (Samsung 205BW).

My monitor arrived last week, and having plugged it in I've realised my ancient system is lacking two things in the graphics department.

A) My current graphics card won't run the resolution that the screen requires

B) There is no DVI connector on my current graphics card.

So naturally I need to replace it with a newer one. Before anyone starts suggesting I purchase an expensive graphics card, this isn't going to happen, as the only graphics intensive instructions my PC recieve are in the form of watching DVDs (and soon TV). I don't play games, and never will be a "gamer".

I've pretty much decided I'll get a GeForce GX 5200 which I can pick up for around £25 brand new, this has DVI, dual monitors (not that i need them at the moment) and can run the correct resolution.

My real question is, what shall I do about replacing my TV? I've currently got a set top box (about the cheapest pile of tosh you could imagine), but the features of this are far from desirable, as is the reliability. So the way I see it I've got two options:

1) get a PCI TV card, and a new set top box
2) get a TV card with DVB built in.

What i'm really looking for is opinions on what would be the best solution for watching TV, being able to make use of a remote controlled programs guide, and make use of my widescreen monitor I've just purchased.

Cheers.

Dont get a FX5200, get something like a AGP 6200 and use purevideo, which will give you a much better TV/DVD picture than a bog standard FX5200.

Just get a DTV card, something like the cheapo Leadtek one, that's all you need.

The FX5200 doesnt have as much hardware decoding than a nvidia 6xxx 7xxx card. DVDs and DTV would be much better with a 6200/Purevideo.

As Lanz said, image quality sucks on the 5200s. I use a 6200 in my HTPC and it is a big step up over the PCI 5200FX that I've used for tertiary screens.

edit: too slow :o
