Graphics Artifacts [Help/Advice Needed]

Hey All,

My graphics card got replaced recently from my old one dying out on me. So purchased a Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 (Link) from over clockers the other week.

I installed it and everything was fine then loaded up WoW/BF etc and I've started noticing some artifacting problems when the settings were bumped up. (Bottom two example).

I can't seem to find a solution, that I'm capable of doing with my own resources and knowledge. Only thing that really bugging me that is my PCI-E Expansion slot is no longer working correctly. Some reason if i put my card in the first PCI-E expansion slot it won't go into boot mode.

Tried:

- Updating all Motherboard drviers (Not bios)
- Updating all display drives (10.0 I think) Mine showing 8.0
-> Currently trying drivers from Sapphire and not Radeon
- Updated Windows
- Updated Direct X

These two are pretty much the same image... But I've lowered the settings on the second one and the problem seems to go. Which makes me more confused.


My Rig:

Mobo: DFI LAN PARTY ULTRA-D
CPU: AMD Athlon 64Bit 3200+
Ram: GEIL 2GB
GFX: Sapphire Radeon HD5770 1GB GDDR5
PSU: Cool Master 650W
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3

my initial guess would be the motherboard as it is a new card. do you know what version of PCI bus the board is running? The 5770's are on 2.1, but i dont think it would be a major problem. although if the cars is 'throttling' itself to work on the board then maybe that is the cause.

i would wait for some more answers to see if anyone else has had the same problem and resolved it

These dots are from my experience with ATI associated with memory overclocking and memory failing.

Do the following go into overdrive and underclock your card. Memory and clock.

Retest the games.

This looks like the card should be RMA'd.

Unfortunately no luck. I'm wondering if it's the motherboard due to the first PCI-E slot no working correctly and something has happened.

But Another than that I'm wondering to send it back just incase something could be wrong with the GFX card it's self?
