graphics card 100% fan no display

What's the brand/spec of the card and the spec of the system it's in?

Have you tried reseating the card and it's power connectors and checking that you have the monitor cable in the correct output at the back of the card (if it has two)?

Does the rest of the sytsem sound like it's booting up - does the computer even post?

hi i dont think it does post the lights are on, the card is a 8800 i dont know the brand of it, i know its nothing to do with reseating ect or psu, so i am assuming there is a physical problem with the card, i have another exact same card with the same problem both are not from my system..

Just to clarify - your system will post and function properly with 'another' card in but when you install the 8800 (and its twin) your system just spins up the fans and nothing else?

Or are you saying that you've tested the system with 2 identical 8800 cards and it reproduces the same problem - if it this then your problem may be not be gfx card related - it could be but it could also be a few other possibilities..

yes the system post with 8800gs in and works fine, i put 1 of the other 8800s in on its own lights on all fans on no display so i dont know if it has posted... yes same problem with 2 identical 8800s (not the 8800gs)...

What's the history of the 8800's - have you just bought the cards - were they part of an old SLi setup?

It's not looking promising - have you been able to test one in another rig to see if it replicates the same problem?

yes they were in an old setup from ebay, the card was cold to touch after being in the system for 5 mins, do you think the card may have dry solder joints or a reflow might fix it maybe..

they were sold faulty, i thought i could fix them by doing a reflow, but i have had no luck as yet, yes i will have to have a good look at them.....
