You lot are probably fed up with questions like this. So... er... sorry about that :D

I'm just in the process of ditching my 8 year old dell (how the hell I managed to get it to last this long I don't know). Got myself a good deal for something I can build up over a bit of time.

Got myself a Thermaltake Level10 GT for a case and dropped a relatively cheap bundle into it for now as I just wanted a good processor and an ok amount of RAM to get started. (i7 3770k and 8gb RAM).

Motherboard is the GIGABYTE GA-Z77-HD3 (for now... this stuff is addictive isn't it?!). Looking at getting a fairly decent graphics card for < £250. Something fairly quiet would be quite nice. Only game I'm currently play is Star Wars Old Republic Online and I'd like to be able to up the graphics on it to a fairly decent level. I might take on more PC games once I'm in that frame of mind.

PC is also used for Photoshop, Illustrator and although irrelevant to graphics cards Pro Tools 10 for my band stuff :)

Any advice greatly appreciated :D

7950 would be the best bet at that price point i reckon, although if it was me i would wait a few weeks to see what the Nvidia 700 series does to pricing.

As already suggested if you want to get it now 7950 would be your best choice, otherwise you can wait for a few weeks for the new generation of nvidia cards

I don't need it immediately but I like the idea of something "tried and tested" rather than just off the shelf.

I'll follow the advice above though and wait for the Intel cards to see what it does to other cards prices :D
