Hi all,

I bought a new bundle from ocuk at the start of this year but I still have an old graphics card.. 260gtx! I want to buy a new card that is obviously a large improvement over my current card (though not difficult!) but that will also not be overkill. I will be gaming at 1680x1050 resolution. I am out of the loop with what is decent and so some opinions would be nice please! I prefer nvidia over ati. I've got a budget of £130-£250 but would rather pay the lower end :)

I know normally in these situations there is a card that is normally slightly more yet much better performance.

My current specs below :

Krypton Z68 670i Intel 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.40GHz
MSI Z68A-GD55-G3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Built a system for a mate at the weekend, got an MSI 7850 twin frozr, overclocked to 1200mhz with no issues, which is above GTX580 performance for sub £200.

It's a shame Nvidia don't have anything proper mid range atm, I don't know why they're dragging their heels:confused:

Oh as an off point, I am assuming a 400w corsair PSU will be alright with the 7850? My current card uses 2 6 pin connectors and this one only uses 1. The PSU has 30amps on the 12v rail

Installed the card today, all seemed well at first. Played Fallout New Vegas with everything on max settings for 30mins or so with it not going below 60 fps (vsync on).

Then I was just browsing the forums and my screen went black with feint grey lines down it... nothing responded. I reset the machine and checked the card was seated correctly along with the DVI cable and hoped it was a one off. It's done it a few times now though, even when just browing the internet. It did it once after a restart with 30 secs or so.

Temps are absolutely fine. Could it be my PSU failing? I've read a few threads that say a 30a 400w PSU should be fine as it's superior to a unknown brand 500w PSU that ATI recommends.
