Graphics Card and Monitor BOTH Broken?!

Hey folks. I was playing modded Skyrim the other day and I paused it to go to another room. Came back and my monitor had simply gone grey. Couldn't get a menu on it or anything. My first thought was that I'd buggered my graphics card but when the monitor was unplugged it did the same thing. Grey screen when switched on, no menu. Asked around about fixing the monitor and the general advice was to buy a new one as it would cost nearly as much as a new one just to get someone to look at it. So I dished out £120 for a brand new copy of the same monitor again and it arrived today. Plugged it into it's usual port and I get 'no signal' :( Tried both the DVI-I and DVI-D ports with the monitors vga cable and a DVI adapter and no dice. So I'm sitting here writing this using my motherboards integrated video thingum and feeling very sorry for myself. Is it possible for both the graphics card and monitor to go at the same time?

Big thanks for the help guys! I opened up the PC and removed the graphics card, gave it a good blow as it had gathered copious amounts of dust, and returned it to it's position. That seemed to do it. Not sure what it was.. the dust or the connection I guess! I'm relieved beyond belief
