Graphics card beeping sound

After playing a game for around 15-20 minutes my graphics card starts making a beeping sound every so often lasting around 2 seconds. There’s no pattern to it, sometimes it will beep every few seconds, other times minutes will go by. If I restart the game it will stop beeping for at least 15 minutes.

I think it’s been doing it for some time, but it’s not that loud so easy to miss when I’m wearing headphones (but still very obvious when I take the headphones off). The card is a Sapphire 5850, I’ve only had it a month which is around when the problem started.

It’s definitely not overheating, nor is any other component in my PC. Also I’m pretty sure it’s getting enough power as I have a 720W PSU and the 6+8 pin connectors are plugged in. Gaming is fine, everything runs as normal. Any idea what this could be and whether I should be worried?

Beeping aint good and normally leads to a hardware problem of some sort.

Check the voltages on your PSU output while playing a game, +12v +5v +3.3v etc...

re:

I had a beeping sound yesterday and it was a ram issue, could your beeping be the same and not the card ????
cheers

If it is a definate beep as opposed to squeal. It could be the PSU struggling. What brand is the PSU? How old is it?

most mid to high end card now a days come with a speaker or led status lights.
it sounds as the card isnt getting the power it needs from the psu

The PSU is an Enermax Infiniti 720W, its only 2 years old.

I checked that both the 4 and 6 pin connectors were in property, but if it was not getting enough power wouldnt this cause problems in game?

It is a definate beep rather than a squeal.

Turns out it wasn’t my graphics card after all. I ran a stress test on the CPU and within a few seconds I was getting a constant beeping noise.

I checked the temperatures in core temp and it was at just under 70C, it seems that my BIOS was set to sound the alarm if the temperature exceeded 60C.

I have been playing more demanding games since getting my new graphics card so I guess the CPU is struggling to keep up.

Still, a 45-50C idle temperature still seems way too hot for a Q6600 @ stock with the stock cooler?
