hmm i presume theres a generic board for say the x1900 series, aka pro,gt,xt,xtx.. the boards get sent to each individual manufacturere aka sapphire, and then they purchase the bits and bobs to go on there, (its a just guess why but it seems logical)

Definately stick it on the auction site, you never know! I try my luck at buying knackered hardware all the time, it pays off quite often too!
I present you with the £10 Inno3D 8600GTS:
Coil had come off, but not noticably (was a dry solder joint). A quick dab with a soldering iron and a bit of cat5 cable and away it goes!
